Messi’s Masterclass in Great Sportsmanship

The little Argentinian is probably the best player in the world. His skills are sublime. But what makes him such a really great player in terms of sportsmanship?

Watch this video and you’ll see Great Sportsmanship values in action. These are the pillars upon which great sportsmanship is built:

  • Honesty
  • Humility
  • Honour
  • Fair Play
  • Friendly
  • Respect

These values make Lionel Messi a world statesman for sportsmanship.

He shows us all how the beautiful game should be played. Lionel Messi is a role model for all budding footballers. Thanks to Shane Smith for alerting us.

Note:    “If one day I score, I’d be so happy that I’d fly.” Here’s a stunning Spanish video about a team of 5-6 year olds who have never won a match or even scored a goal BUT they are the essence of sportsmanship.

  1. Messi is the unsporting one every time he is on the pitch the opposing team never has enough players to compete just against him. The greatest footballer ever?

  2. @Steve Interesting angle Steve! And yes he probably is the world’s best player right now. Question – of all time?

Interesting watching Messi and the whole Barca (which is the best team in the world) seems to be full of ordinary looking people – none seem to have diesd their hair, or shaved, dyed, greased, or made mohekan hair styles. When Messi scores – he just looks happy but humble. All thoughts welcome.

    • Messi is amazing. He is so humble too. No arrogance at all, he is a truly great sportsman. He never rolls around on the ground. He never gets angry. Samia he is an inspiration to us all and he proves that nice guys do come first.
